A common rack for nano/pico tanks.

Unread post by SCORPIO »

I am planning to keep several nano/pico tanks of different size from several 100 ml to 1-2 liter water capacity. It is very difficult to arrange light for individual nano/pico tanks. I want to make a rack to keeping these tanks with common lighting system in the rack. Is there any system to reduce the temperature under the rack.

Need suggestions and ideas to make this DIY project.

Why dont you go for individual LED, common lighting will be a issue for different volume.

Individual LED will need driver for each tank.

ya its quite expensive to do so.

Then one Pll for two tanks, or one CFL for two tanks like that.

Temperature will be always a issue, as I am feeling now in Delhi.

Or better in summer you put all PICOs in a big tank fill it up, put single light and get a chiller.

BTW you will maintain emersed or submerged???

Never thought of a chiller.

Emersed and submerged depends on plant selection. In coming tank I want to grow Bacopa morinari and fully emersed HC.

Fortunately, the temperature of my wife is mild. In last 11 years, she never got wild. :roll

Checked with 3 watt LED in a single tank. The result is:

I suppose this light is enough to grow most of the plants
