yes exactlysaikumar wrote:Khamba ji , I think you saw just half part. I got Belo info on mouser. The 100lm is when its run at 1w, and the lumens keep decreasing from there on as you keep increasing power.
Don't forget to see this product is being discontinued

Specifications
Manufacturer:
Seoul Semiconductor
Product Category:
High Power LEDs - White
RoHS:
Illumination Color:
Cool White
Color Temperature: 6300 K
Luminous Flux:
108 lm
Viewing Angle: 127 deg
Forward Current:
350 mA
Forward Voltage:
3.25 V
108lm per 1W
according to sushants link it is approx 220lm powered by 3.25V and 1A= 220lm at 3.25W
so actually a good choice, isn't it?

Hi Juanico,
Yes, when comparing with Edison, nearly same.
This is coming to 67lm/w, so not great on effic, but your plus points of PAR and temperature will be surely addressed.
For a nano, I will surely go for them, not on a mega tank.
Good luck.

why not? because of the 127 deg viewing angle?saikumar wrote:not on a mega tank.

Re: LED lighting Setup from scratch
then one more question...sorry am completely new to the LED topic...
@Syed Ali: you use 6x3W LED and a driver with the specs 6-24V and 700mA.
1. i suppose it is a series connection, so the voltage at each led is 4V...do you use a resistor to reduce it to 3.25V?
2. with 700mA each led consumes 2.28W...any particular reason why you did not go for 1A (3.25W per led)?

Thanks....I was even thinking that I might have picked up 1W LEDs by mistakesaikumar wrote:Khamba ji , I think you saw just half part. I got Belo info on mouser. The 100lm is when its run at 1w, and the lumens keep decreasing from there on as you keep increasing power.

Heres another link with almost the same part number and is a new product. I'm not sure which 1 i got

Re: LED lighting Setup from scratch
no, because my take is that when you have spent so much, you could well squeeze in some thing more efficient at a bigger price. For the viewing I am sure you'd have used lens to improve it, may be a very acute angled one.juanico wrote:why not? because of the 127 deg viewing angle?saikumar wrote:not on a mega tank.
For the other part, running the LEDs at lesser than max voltage and current is a safer move(hence 2.28W? just guessing). Next challenge is to get that 1A drivers ofcourse.
Hi Khamba(your name?)
Thats U3 in your link, which could be talking of BINning, so yours being U1 as you said, should be an older version of that part number. Thats how you can read through Sushant's link and find the lumens like Juanico did.

Hey Sai....my name is Gurjap but you can call me Khamba toosaikumar wrote:

I've also picked up a driver for 7-10 LEDs.....I know its output is low at 680mA but its the only i've been able to find. I'm currently experimenting so if these LEDs and driver don't work out its fine.
Comments on the driver pls

Re: LED lighting Setup from scratch
Hi Gurjap,
can't comment on the brand. Does it have feature to control voltage?
As janico said, you can run max at 2w each with that current. Good point is you ll get good efficency, bad thing is you ll need more leds and optics/lens on them. Simple!
can some mod try to male a dedicated thread for Mr.Khamba?(Gurjap) going quite offtopic

Re: LED lighting Setup from scratch
@Juanico...a driver rated at 6-24V implies that if the forward voltage of each LED is say 3.0V , you can put 8 such LEDs in series. If there are 6 LEDs, then the voltage required to drive all 6 would be 18V , well within the range of the driver.
Gurjap...where did you pick up this driver from ? Did you try Paharganj by any chance ? Paharganj has a lot of signboard makers who have started importing high voltage/wattage drivers for LEDs which are used as backlights in smaller display units.
@saikumar - I tend to disagree that at 2W you will get high efficiency. Whats the point of buying 3W LEDs if you want to run them at 2W ? In my view , a 3W LED clearly needs a 1A driver.
