, I've tried similar thing with pearlpet container in Past. Problem occured after few days of function, where incase of filter being switched off water pressure tends some water drop leakage from the lid, making mess around. really good idea, simple, but effective.
and you can upscale it to huge sizes as well, where commercial canisters are unaffordable
