I am in Kolkata and during pick summer, we will touch about 42 Dec C, I was thinking of buying of a chiller, does an one knows what would be the running cost for a chiller which will take care of about 120Ltr aquarium , I am worried about the runing cost - meaning electricity bills. Is it as expensive as an AC or as affordable as a Refrigerator.

Arindam,
I have a chiller but have managed to do without. For a 120 litres tank don't spend on chiller. Here is what you can do:
1. Use aquarium fans. This should do well during the dry heat...April- May
2. Keep it in a cooler part of the room.
3. If its inn a AC room...nothing like it
4. Do frequent water changes.
5. You can everyday keep bottles filled with ice (4litres).....
If you do not have too sensitive plant things should be Ok. For example, if it is in your living/drawing/bed room....most likely the temperature in the room is (at most mid 30s). The tank temperature will be easily 4-5 degrees less. All you need to do is lower the tank temperature by another 2-3 degrees.....

while in Kolkata I use to insulate the tank walls with Styrofoam...though it may look odd...but it helps to lowering temp even farther

Covering three sides of a tank with Thermocol and installation of a fan over the water will help in reducing the temperature in summers.
It also helps in winters to maintain temperature with consumption of less electricity. Covering three sides of a tank also reduces the loss of electricity.
