Re: Critique this click please
Thanks a lot guys.
Abhishek
Setting for "depth of field" , what should it correspond to normally?
Other two points taken note from Jibran , but the colour was intentional as I liked that warm effect.
Also will try increasing sharpness setting next time.

Re: Critique this click please
Depth of Field is an equivation of the distance of the subject and the aperture used for the shotmarsaiko wrote:Setting for "depth of field" , what should it correspond to normally?
in your shot the DOF being thin is more prominent because the focus plane that u have selected to shoot the subject, is not parallel to the subject.
in the above pic, you can see that the plane of focus that is selected is not parallel to the subject, hence the depth of field is also tilted, and when the shot composed is more out of the plane of focus, most of the composition in the shot is blurred out, in most cases this is good, when only the subject is in focus and everything else forms a niice bokeh, but in this case a lot of the background is in focus and very little is out of focus, hence it forms an element of distraction
and about thismarsaiko wrote: but the colour was intentional as I liked that warm effect.
i think u used a post processing software to get the higher contrast, which causes the reds do get quite bright, but the picture gets quite yellowish, which in turn makes the picture look quite unnatural.

Thanks Jibran. I am using AF settings, should I be doing any more?
The colour is as it is, in RAW-unprocessed, I suppose I used incandecent setting on menu.

Re: Critique this click please
th issue is the settings u have used, maybe a one step lower F number would've given you a more natural lighting.marsaiko wrote:Thanks Jibran. I am using AF settings, should I be doing any more?

Aquarium photography only
one of the best methods is to shoot ur first shot at a shutter speed of 200, with an F number of 8
and once u get the shot, check whether the colors are true or unnatural, if the colors are yellow then u are getting less light and at that time its better to decrease the f number by one or two stops and check again
this is the best way to go about, when u cannot judge the EXIF you need for a given lighting, as time goes on you will eventually know what EXIF to shoot at

Clear water and clean glass both are the basic need of aquarium photography.
