My first experience with betta breeding.
Hello guys,
Recently, I picked up interest in keeping and breeding betta.
The male in a aquarium setup with the female:
(^male on left)
Female:
The male (after introducing into garden tub) while wooing the female. See how his colour has changed:
The tub:
Eggs were laid within two days of introducing them here. The fertile eggs were yellowish and the male picks up the eggs regularly whichever falls down, while the female lays eggs.
Male guarding the eggs: he even attacks my finger if i go too close to inspect the nest.
I am feeding the betta fries with insuforia culture, which I mainatain. The betta's nest was attacked by a toad that jumped into it atnight. Even then, about 13 eggs supposedly hatched and I can see the fries swimming around now. New born fry are very tiny, just a dot with a yolk sack attached to them. This is how they look after about a week (hope you can spot them):
Out of all, I liked the parental care and aggressive tending that is done by the male betta.
Cheers,
Karthik

Nice and informative. Keeping an eye on your project.

Thanks Romiji. Yes, I took the female out once the male was guarding the nest and I saw the eggs turn yellowish.Romi wrote:well done Karthik!

Fry status. Very slow growth. Second batch of double tail betta is growing at faster rate compared to this.
