Keeping angels for the first time

Hi everyone,

In my almost 25 years of fish keeping I have never kept Angels. But when I saw these beauties 2 months back at a fish shop, I simply couldn't control myself.

thought i will share some pics. The picture quality is not very great and does not justify the real beauty of these awesome fishes but still...

These seem to be Blue Pinoy Angels. Where did you find them?

Abhi - found them at the LFS in sector 56 Huda market Gurgaon. I was surprized that they were so cheap - Rs 150 for a pair

I am shocked that the Phillippine Blue gene has reached India and is so decently priced!! FAntaTastic price. This trait was bred by Kenneth Kennedy of the Philippines, and took America by storm. Your fish have quality shapes too. I even suspect they come from the line of Carol Francis, a breeder who has a profile on facebook.

I wish i was able to keep more fish..

Angelfish are among the hardiest fish to keep.

To avoid losses, the following facts can help: some of them will bully newcomers, so early deaths are usually due to bullying, not water. Only wild caught Angels are sensitive, but there are no chances of them reaching India so easily as to be available in a common shop. Even the F2 fish Bappaditya got from an importer proved to be truly tough.

When a pair forms, the other angelfishes can also be at risk, so either separate the pair or the bullied fish by placing in a different aquarium.

The ones in this page are all domestic strains, which are totally adapted to home aquariums.
