Nothing much will be affected as far as proper fert dosing is practiced but then planted tank without fauna is something unpleasing, atleast to me

nitrogen cycle has nothing to do with live stock. you can use liquid ammonia to cycle the tank.parthapratim22 wrote:Now question isn't it slowdown the N cycle...to mature?

Re: Planted Tank , No Fish- effect?
I prefer fishless planted tanks. Reason is low maintenance.
1) one wont need to syphon the sludge out periodically
2) one wont have to feed them
I prefer live feeding to my fishes and hence its tough for me to get blood worms every week, store them and feed for a week. I have access to live blood worms only on sundays. and I need to travel an hr to get it. I cant feed them tubifex coz the lucky ones get into the substrate they destroy the substrate and tank over a period of time. telling from personal experience.
Presently I am keeping fishes in one of my planted tanks just for the reason that this issue was raised some time back and people said my tanks are hostile for fishes w/o knowing that a good looking planted tank can be achieved by balancing the parameters w/o dosing algaecides an all...
ohh another point is WC is v much hassle free and faster....if i dont hav fishes i dont have to look for a mesh to cover the hose that take the water out..
