They have vermicompost, organic manure.. I used that manure one but that promotes nematodes in my tank.. neem fertilizer, perlite, vermiculite.. I'm not sure of CEC and which will help me to avoid anaerobic pockets.. I see perlite and vermiculite in shops as well..
I currently have red soil, cocopeat with me..

I also come through a sodium bentonite clay powder through amazon website.. just let me know if we can use it in the mix.. do they really have some value?
http://www.amazon.in/Greenfield-BENTONI ... 566&sr=1-6
Also, I have high ph water, it shows as 8.1.. I dont find peat moss here.. so preferred soilrite.. but could not able to source it..

if it is really 8.1ph,(what is your TDS?) you cant to much but use an RO unit.Manikandan wrote:I also come through a sodium bentonite clay powder through amazon website.. just let me know if we can use it in the mix.. do they really have some value?

3-4mm or higher grain/granules/gravel will have enough gaps for roots to penetrate.Manikandan wrote:which coarse product can be added to substrate to prevent it from becoming anaerobic and helps in root penetration? and what grain size

Re: Source for Soilrite and DIY Micro
okay.. thank you Sai.. I have checked my corporation water with TDS of 150-200 and a ph of 7.5.. I believe that would be good to use.. is there a good way to reduce ph and maintain nearby to 7.0?
