Why don't we guys start a new topic for a group order, and let this topic be for Puneet to get tips on keeping Discus.

@Puneet,

Buy small healthy discus, for this tank size. Change water every aternate day. Feed variety of food apart from tetrabit, but if u pick up blue strain then skip tetrabit imo. Also run the best filteration that you can afford on the tank, more of bio filteration than mechanical.

What else you want to know.

Hi Guys,

Sorry to interrupt...........

I have a same size of tank.....ruther 30"(l)x18"(h)x15"(b)......and there are 6 Discus 5.5" - 6"..............No issue at all.

But always I have to be very careful about the water condition........and also the filtration system....

So I think Puneet can start with min. 6 Discus of 2-3' size....

Few things have to be very careful :

> Filtration system sould be very good (24x7)

> Need min. twice in a week 100% WC

> If u use BHM or GHM then need daily 100% WC

> So better go for as Rajib say Tetra Bit, Tetra Crisp, Sera, Hikari Bio-Gold

> In winter feed less and 2 times daily is ok...rest of the season 3-4 times until they rais to 4"

> Better not to keep any fish with Discus. But if you want u can go for Clown Loach, Corrys. Also U can keep Bristolnose Pleco which will keep clean u r glass of the tank and also it's size goes max. 3-3.5".

> Temp. Should not go below 28 degree.

> This is winter season....so buy a good thermostat like Jagger or Rena 200 and fix it 28 degree. Switch of the
thermostat min. 2 hrs. before WC. In winter best time to do WC in mid-day.

> Ask Shiva Nair from Mumbai for some good Discus.

Hope it will help you.....

Dear Rajiv ,

Never mind brother.....not necessary that u have to buy 3.5' tank for Discus....as per my experience. But of course if you provide as big tank as possible it will always good. There is no doubt about that. And also Discus need hight.
