ok. today was finally able to go to Sarojini NAgar. Syed Ali had told me in january that there were ramirezi availabe and also freshwater 'lobsters.'
Today, i saw no ramirezi as expected because i was too late anyway, but the Crayfish (called lobsters by error by the shop owner) were there, for around 45o bucks each. nice! but who will pay so much for a species that is sold by the kilo for food in south india, and will kill all your small fish if u keep it in a community tank? But yes, looks interesting indeed.
the other fish i saw were small black ghost knife fish (bought one, since u should keep them singly only unless u have a giant tank), Rs 225 each. since i love this little dog-like creature, it made my trip worthwhile. but i also got some mickymouse platies for Rs 75 for a trio. they are often availabe for a mere 10 bucks each, but i chose some good quality ones from the large lot, so glad of it. Syed Ali has the same type gifted by Juanico. I saw black moor goldfish, what i thought was a freshwater prawn (single one in a tank, size 5 inches), neon tetras (100 bucks a pair), Redtail Sharks (labeo bicolour), sundry goldfish, common plecos, widow tetras, rift valley cichlids, two lonely male guppies, and plants like common echinodorus, cryptocorynes, and a plant i cant recall the name of that looks like a lily but is not .
okay, that's it for this time. sarojini nagar shop always has a good selection of fish, i must say. even laxmi nagar does not have as much thought the latter is a wholesaler. but sarjoni nagar has always a few tanks of totally overpriced fish. today i saw ordinary neon blue dwarf gouramis being called "lily'' gouramis, available for a laughable 400 rupees! imagine a fish that i have bought from anand parbat for a 100 bucks a dozen! .. So watch it if u are a newbie!
