Maaz Bro, the price of individual chemical will be too much. For example, Just good brand Agar agar (500gm min size) will cost you about 1.5k...forget about rest!! A full scale Govt. R&D or a Commercial scale production unit like Tropica will think twice before Purchase all of them

seriously Mr. Maaz, why do you want to do tissue culture? Indian shops nowadays have sooooomany varities and frequently. I dont think it is worth experimenting

Hi All, I’m new here and this is my first post.

I am interested in aquarium plants and happened to see Maaz’s post. I am also interested in plant tissue culture.

To answer Maaz’s question yes it can be done at home. I have been doing plant tissue culture at home for the last 5 years. I have a small spare room that I use but it can be done in an area that doesn’t have too much air movement or it can be done in any room if you make a glove box.

I started out using a glove box made from an aquarium turned on its side. They make great glove boxes. I made a door that swung open and drilled two holes so that I could put my inside. I taped thin plastic gloves on coupling that went through the holes. It worked very well. I was inexpensive to make. I can post pictures of the door if you like.

The chemicals or nutrients for the media can be purchased prepackaged, already measured out for you. In the U.S. a packet to make a liter of media costs around $1.75. Of course there are charges for shipping. I can suggest places to get the chemicals. You can use a microwave for sterilization of the media but if you can get a pressure cooker that would be much better.
