Earth eaters
This is my first post on aquapetz. Thanks Rajiv for the invite. I love south american eartheaters and for the past few years have been keeping them.

Re: Earth eaters
Eartheaters are fascinating fish, and i understand, less aggressive among cichlids. Thanks for sharing, Prem.

Re: Earth eaters
Thank you all! I currently keep the below mentioned species
Satanoperca daemon (7)
Satanoperca leucosticta (8)
Geophagus altifrons (6)
Geophagus winemilleri (6)
Geophagus iporangensis (7)
Orange head tapajos (6)
Gymnogeophagus balzani (just one)
All of them are commonly called eartheaters. There are tons of information on the net which talks about keeping these wonderful specimens. They key to me are three things
- Excellent filtration
- Good diet
- Weekly 50 % water changes
Contrary to information on the net i find them very easy to keep and care for.
Regards,
Prem

Re: Earth eaters
Wow, Prem. To have so many species of Eartheater speaks of a real passion for them...
I never seem to be able to source anything... not in less than 2 years!
How do you manage to do it, who is your supplier?

Re: Earth eaters
Thank you! I am thankful to all the people who helped me source them. Many of them are hand carried and hence need to be pre ordered and payed not knowing if your fish will come or not. But was worth the wait and risk.
