If you want a 2 inch layer, you will need around 4 bags. However, if there are portions where you do not want ADA, you can get less. I do think you will need 4 litres

for an average substrate thickness of 2 inch you would require 3 bags (9L each)

For reduce the consumption of substrate, you can use thermocol and small rocks to form slope.

Sorry for hijacking the topic.

Which ADA substrate has smallest granual size? I want that for my next scape.

yes. But over time (if you want to have the tank for more than 2 yeaars) the slope will start flattening out. I was thinking more like- place thermocol (and glue them) in the tank base wherever you want to place your rocks/driftwoods (you wont grow any plants underneath them) so that you don't need much ADA there. You just need enough to cover the thermocol from being visible. The rest of the places can have ADA
