How to connect 10W LEDs?
Hi guys
I want to make a LED light with 10 pieces 10W LED.
Which is the best way to connect them?
1. 10 x 10W Led parallel connection with driver (10V, 10A)
2. 10 x 10W Led series connection with driver (100V, 1A)
What are the differences in both options?
Whats better?

1A...you burn less current.
I have the 3W at 1A total driving current. Works like a breeze. Get the Meanwell driver - I think they have a reseller in Bangalore.

what is the advantage?apuda2010 wrote:1A...you burn less current.
consumption is U x I = 100W in both cases.
there is also a meanwell dealer in nehru place, bought some drivers there alreadyapuda2010 wrote:I have the 3W at 1A total driving current. Works like a breeze. Get the Meanwell driver - I think they have a reseller in Bangalore.

Can you post datasheet of led?
For safety reasons best config is series, so if single led fails, rest are safe too.

Can you count number of small minute white dots in it? Are they in series or parallel?

Re: How to connect 10W LEDs?
most of them should be same specs, so assume you got this one
http://www.wayjun.com/Datasheet/Led/10W ... %20LED.pdf
and 9.6-11V is optimum, with 900mA. So you are good that way.
So 2nd option should still hold good. but AFAIK, there arent many selling 100V drivers.

Re: How to connect 10W LEDs?
so maybe a driver with 48V/1.8A...so it would be 2 parallel circuits with 4-5 LED in series each...right?saikumar wrote: and 9.6-11V is optimum, with 900mA. So you are good that way.

Yes,5series/2parallel. Worth having a fuse on each as you have parallel.
