Hi

Need help in DIY substrate

My Tank size is 39*15*24. While doing set up i Have used 1.5 kg of Humus and 1.5 kg of fert soil(by Aquanature) topped with 40 kg river sand.
Now I am planning to rescape and here is my plan.

0.5 inch Cocopeat at bottom
1.5 inches Vermi compost
2 inch river sand
0.5 inch ADA amezonia II (for my forground plant)

1) Experts pls let me know u r opinon about above combination.
2) Should I wash my exixting river sand before re use?
3) How many kg will I need cocopet, vermi compost & ADA amezonia II

Combination is good but I am unable to understood why are you using too many types of substrate with ADA.

Dont was sand from existing tank. But wash vermicompost 4-5 times.

You need around 3 kg cocopeat and 4 kg vermicompost. How much area you want to fill with ADA?

This time I want black soil as top layer. I will be using ADA as a top layer so that it will help my montecarlo and staurogyne repens to get the nutrition easliy and . I will be using 9lit ADA bag ... hopping to get 0.5/0.75 inch layer of ADA soil.

I saw vermicompost in packets in nursery from 1 local brand.. Still I hve to wash that 4-5 time?

Could u please tell me what will happen if i increase ration of Coco Peat / Vermi culture?

Also what will happen If if mix Cocopeat and vermiculture and then topped by river sand followed by ADA soil?

Dont mix Cocopeat and Vermiculutre. Otherwise they will float. Lay the cocopeat in the bottom. 2nd layer should be of Vermiculture and soil and topped with sand.

You have to wash vermicompost 4-5 times otherwise water will not clear easily.

40% vermicompost of total substrate is enough.

Why do you want to mix ADA and DIY substrate ?

I m not mixing DYI and ADA substrate. My Top layer will be ADA soil as i want black substrate as a top layer.
