Re: Explain
I thing Elos is talking about the f/ value i.e Aperture value. Lens with lesser f/ values are generally more costlier.
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-number) .... this may help.

Re: Explain
I guess he's talking about "field of view", lesser the F number lesser would the field of view i.e the range in which picture would be sharp. this is the reason lens with smaller F number are good portrait lens but not good for landscape photography.

Re: Explain
The guy is comparing two different focal lengths, i.e., 12mm and 50mm. The first pic is taken at 12mm (wide angle lens), hence it is giving an illusion of depth in the tank, seems as if it was taken from the side glass. The second pic is taken at 50mm which is very close to the human eye perspective (53mm), therefore you can't see the illusion of depth that was created by the wide angle lens.

Re: Explain
@Sushant and Amol...its not at all about F-number here. Lesser f-number gives a shallow 'depth of view', which in photogrpahic terms is nowhere even close to illusion of depth you see within a cube. Gaurav got it right...
@Sai..Everyones got a wide angle lens. Zoom out your camera(whatever it is, neednt be a DSLR), go closer to the tank to get it in frame instead of lens zooming and shoot, theres your wide angle shot.

Re: Explain
Sorry, need little more clarity dude. You meant zoom in? Because I always shoot normally and its all zoomed out, I.e. Normal state. I actually never zoomed in to shoot a tank, might try see if any diff.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Explain
Hamza/Sai, It is work of an UWA (Ultra Wide Angel Lens). Even 18mm (Normal Wide Angel) will not give you much distortion. To get the distortion or the illution like the first picture, you have to go between 12mm-16mm. But anything lesser than 12mm will screw the picture badly like a fish eye view.
Sai, in Normal camera, when you will zoom out max, in P&S, it will reach to max 24mm which is not enough to create the illution of depth. And I got an UWA (12-24mm) but yet to click a tank with it.
