Hi All,

Started my new project ....

Tank Size -- 48 X 18 X 15
Set up -- tanganyika cichlids
Filtration -- 2217 Eheim
Light Fixture -- DYI
Light -- 2 Philips true light 20 watts each
Substrate -- Carib sea Eco Complete for African Cichlid + Aragonite sand
Fish -- might start with a group of 6-8 Brichardi or Julidochromis .... Later on might add other species based on availability

Very risky after you put water, cut the thermocol where you dont have the rocks. Sand will not be able to hold the thermocol from floating.

Put some thin slate rocks over the thermocol to prevent it floating.

Almost 55 kgs of rocks .... I doubt whether thermocol will float after puting water.....still will cut the excess part 2 b in safe side........



Rajivji these rocks may look like having sharp edge .but in actual edges r quite blunt .... Many people have been using them in tang set up...don't think they will b any problem....

lovely Pinaki da.

I am a fan of your malawi/tanganyikan tank.these 2 types of tanks are your specialty.you must not stay away from that.

cichlid tank without covering tank at top ,are tang not jump like american

u need 2 b careful while selecting fishes ...... like julidochromis which dwells among rocks ....... still i won't say Cichlid tank without cover is good as eventually people will tend to keep different types of species like Cyprichromis which is a notorious jumper ........but as long as my choices of fishes r Julidochromis , Brichardi i feel it's safe....
