Tank should b set up with lots of plants n hiding spaces where ur fish will feel secure ,,,,,, also u need a good cover as they tend to jump,,, , they will take live food readily ,,,,,,, it will take a while to make them pallet-trained

Channa andrao is best for this small tank.

Channa andrao or bleheri or blue Bengal ( gachua). would be ok in that tank. Their temp requirements are a bit different as most of them are sub- tropical hence take care about reading up on them.

Good to know this info, I also keep medium & small tanks because of space crunch.

The smallest channa would be the one available in western ghats, with golden scales. Grows only upto about 6-8" apparently according to reports from field study.

Cheers and good luck!

I am keeping Channa andrao. They are small and beautiful predators. Here is one of those:

They are always in hunting mode. They also intelligent and to recognise their owners.

Channa orientalis and Channa andrao are the smallest Channa species to date.

C.orientalis is endemic to Sri Lanka and would not be easy to source, while C. andrao, which is endemic to India, can be sourced from the species’ discoverer Mr. Andrao Rao himself :)
