dont go by the size of these cichlids.they have every bit the nasty reputation as their larger central american couterparts.The male develops a hump and the female turns almost a dark black with golden fins while breeding.make sure to provide plenty of caves and escape routes for the female while breeding as the males get overly aggressive.

Personal view : are very aggressive ,one of the easiest fish to breed one should not keep pair in community tank otherwise tank will become war zone , like to dig will be busy most of the time doing this,my mom named this fish as "majdoor machali" (worker) , this fish is full of character.
