Will this be a biotope Partha?

I learnt a way to add leaves to a biotope. Follow this method:

Soak the leaves in a bucket until they sink. Never have one whole leaves, see to it that its slightly crushed or torn in half. Then sprinkle it from top and and switch on your filter, it'll blow away all the leaves to the soil and latch itself in between the rocks. It gives a very natural effect IMO.

Remove the leaves over the stone. Try adding even larger stones. There's a lot of space.

Here's two combos that are biotope correct which will work in this tank:

Melon barbs
Filament barbs
Two spot barbs
Garra mullya
Malabar sunfish

OR

Garra mullya
Puntius vittatus
Schistura sp.
Rasbora daniconius

OR
(Karthiks combo)
Mystus canarensis
Botia striata
Zodiac loach
Arulius barb
Rohtee ogilbyee
Garra bicornuta
Melon barbs

Is it a biotope or mixed Indian fish tank?

Good one Dada and excellent explanation by Nav :) barbs would look very good there with a good combo of bottom dwellers. Waiting for updates.

Cheers,

Karthik

navneeth, that was brilliant ! coolbig I don't know about all those natives ( I have not kept more than two dozen native species in all my life) , but I sure know your suggestions about the leaf litter are spot on! .....

I think some loaches would really hit the spot. I am going to google Zodiac loach that you mentioned. I must say the Queen Loaches (Botia dario) that I am now enjoying, would be a joy to watch... at a young age, their contrast of yellow and black is stunning...would take this setup many notches higher.

Nice work! I feel it is leaning more towards manicured aquascape side than natural.

I wouldnt care much about leaf litter at this stage though, as the existing leaves will disintegrate and age naturally and breakdown by them selves.

I am sure this is not a blackwater biotope/theme setup, so try not to use so many almond leaves ;) just a few small ones here and here is enough to give a natural feel(slight yellow tinge and leaf debris).

Many fishes dont take well to excess tannic acid.
