Congratulations on your first aquascape.

Looking nice but I am afraid that DIY CO2 will not work with Monte carlo.

thx bro

yes, monte carlo have difficulty adapting the new environment, expecially the unstable co2 supply. but i'll still try my best :D

after 15 days (2nd Nov 2014)
Image
as shown above, roots begin to emerge. meanwhile, the old leaves look wilted, I assume it's adapting the new environment

i've also had an algae bloom (maybe diatom or brown hair, i dont know for sure) for two days. So I add 15 red cherry shrimps and 10 horn snails to eat the algae, thanx god it solved the algae problem

With bright light and unstable CO2, there will be algae issues, especially hair algae.

tank update, 26 days old

monte carlo already spread although not evenly. there are still some parts that have not been overgrown with monte, may take a little longer.

As looks above, its more crowded than previous weeks. I add a few mid/background plants like rotala rotundifolia, ludwigia (inclinata verticilata cmiiw), bucephalandra, and one plant which I dont know it's name, it's on rear left of the main stone.

Also 13 neon tetras, 10 horn snails and 15 red cherry shrimps.

Here's detail pics
