Betta Pallifina(wild type betta) -Video update
Hello folks,
I wanted to share my dedicated betta setup here. I had something close to a biotope in mind with this. Pallifinas come from varied water enviroments ranging from stagnant peat swamps to clear flowing waters. What I aimed for is moderately acidic setup with a bit of flow. These are large bettas with a good appetite, so I felt the need for a good filtration system and ample of vegetation to maintain water quality. I have added lots of katapa, teak leaves in there to create acidic environment.
This is the mommy pallifina, quite monster she is at over 4" in length
Obligate predators, they can stay locked on a target patiently, slowly and carefully making a move towards it until the prey is hunted down or moves away from the spot
And then this guy looked up to give me a pose
same fella upclose
juveniles - offsprings of the monster female posted above, born and raised at Krishna's place(theother aquarist)
juvenile male
another juvenile
Thanks for reading my post.
Looking forward to know your views on this setup..

Thank you!sushant wrote:it's a beautiful setup.
To most people they might look kind of drab and boring in pictures when compared colorful tank strains, but they are totally a different league altogether. You should try them sometimes.pinaki_pal wrote:It's a mind blasting set up........I always wanted to keep wild strain Bettas beautiful set up
Pallifinas are quite forgiving in terms of water parameters as they come from various habitats. I am using full RO for them without much fiddling to be on a safer side. From bottle ph is about 6.5 and TDS around 30-40. With lots of leaf litter pH drops down a lil bit, but not much. Its a unheated tank, temperature is around 25 degrees at the moment.vijendra_s123 wrote:Amazing setup, what are the water paramaters in there?
