Nicely done up tank. Was surprised and had to take a re look after reading that its 14 months old and this clean with no algae or diatoms or any sort of growth !! Whats the secret ??
Would like to know the filteration, lighing and the maintenance regime being followed.

ps: Love your Humbug.

Thanks for the kind words abhi. The main reason one gets diatoms and algae are because of the live rock we put into our tanks. The live rock I got was the best of the lot and I myself rinsed it a lot of times before putting it into my tank.
Ofcourse there is growth but my tangs take care of the algae growth..but I have never got any nuisance algae of any sort.

I have a 75 gallon sump with the following equipment:

Super reef octopus 5000s internal skimmer with the bubble blaster pump
Filter socks with phosguard and purigen in them
A DSB with live rock on it...there is another chamber underneath the skimmer section with has more live rock..

I dose calcium...magnesium...iodine and strontium as I want to grow corraline algae.

Frankly there is no secret...the key to a successful tank is to have as much bio filtration as possible...and for the mechanical filtration the filter socks and skimmer do the trick! ;)

Am planning to put in the following fish in the coming months:

Bicolor angel
Flame angel
Emperor angel
Bannerfish
Sailfin
Naso
Anthias

And a couple of cleaner and fire shrimps

I wanted to add a starfish but its a pain to take care of it...very finicky eater..

The humbug is growing beautifully...cute fish :)

P.S.: Sorry for the long post lol

Thanks for the info, but as for the fish list I would reconsider the Emporer with the dwarf angels. Also how big is the tank ie. dimensions? Even I am searching for a Naso and some LR.

The tank is:

72 inches long
24 inches wide
30 inches tall

I dont think dwarfs would trouble the emperor or vice versa as they belong to a different genus...plus there are ways to make them pals :D

Infact I was more worried about keeping 2 dwarfs together...thats more of an issue...lets see :)

Will be adding a whole lot of new fish in Aug-Sep...until then trying to grow coralline and fighting a tiny phosphate issue :)

Will update with pics as soon as I have something new to show :)
