Need help in jointing LEDs.
I want to made four LED strips. Each of the LED strip will have 10 watt X 24 LEDs. These strips will be just for photograph my aquariums. I need answer of following questions:
1. Should I need a driver for each strip?
2. What should be the breadth of Heat Sink?
3. What material should I use to paste LEDs over heat sink?
4. Does I need fans to cool to cool the Heat Sink. I will never run these more than 1 hour continousely.
5. Any other advice.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Need help in jointing LEDs.
You will need a very high power driver in case you plan to drive these LEDs at full power.
No, I don't think you need separate drivers for each strip.
2 inches is sufficient breadth for the heatsink.
You will need thermal pad/glue to join the LEDs to the heat sink. Check this out...http://www.ebay.in/itm/4Pcs-15X15x1MM-L ... Sw9r1V-43G

Can I not joint 24 LEDs in series without driver?apuda2010 wrote:You will need a very high power driver in case you plan to drive these LEDs at full power.

Yes you can. This is the basic principle behind the strip lights you see people putting up during Diwali etc. What is the maximum forward voltage for these LEDs ?
However, I will prefer to go with a driver since it is DC and easier to manage from a safety point of view.

10W led= 12V x 800ma
In series= 12 + 12 + 12 +12 +12 + 12 + 12 +12 +12 + 12 +12 + 12 +12 + 12 + 12 +12 +12 + 12 + 12 +12 +12 + 12 +12 + 12 =288V
288V DC
Rajiv ji why dont you just use MH for photgraphy? much more easier to install. Or get two/4 good flashlights for proper photography. Will be more safe and sellable in long run.

Rajiv JI Please go for
1. Parallel connection rather than Series.
2. Buy a SMPS Rather than driver
3. Use 1 Watt 1 OHM resistor in series with the LED
4. Fan is optional but would recommend it
5. For joining LED with The heat sink mix heat sink compund with Silicon (That we use to join aquarium glass) in 50-50 portion.

Re: Need help in jointing LEDs.
The one that you have if its from CPU then you need to use a load capacitor.please give a search on youtube you will get plenty of videos
Instead you can buy a SMPS based Driver
