Need help on plant selection
hi,
tank size = 18*12*12
lights = 36w pll
co2 = yes, pressurized
substrate = aqua clay topped up with amazonia
plants = needle leaf java fern, glosso,flame moss,monte carlo.
I'm planning to remove glosso and add more monte carlo at the foreground.
for this scape, which plant would be better at the background(left back corner).
Also will it be good to add any plant at the back of needle leaf java ferns.
Experts please suggest.
Excuse for the crappy pics.

Re: Need help on plant selection
Hi Nandan,
Here are my two cents. I might be wrong, but here goes:
1.) substrate: don't mix the aqua clay and Amazonia. Pls use only either of them but I can see you've already mixed it.
2.) I'm feeling lighting is on the higher side, which is good. But it also means that you need to stuff in more plants in there. More fast growing plants that is!
3.) for ferns to grow well, I'm always comfortable with more flow in the tank. So maybe more flow can help. Also it helps disperse co2 throughout the tank.
4.) with adequate fertiliser dosing, your tank should do fabulously well.
Good luck. I'm sorry if you've already taken care of the above points. I'm just suggesting based on my experience (failures rather!)
Cheers,
Karthik

Thanks Karthik for your words,
I've already mixed the soil long back. had both the soil in small numbers, so wanted to experiment on it.
Flow, I need to work on it. Its on the lesser side. May be a small power head would serve the purpose.

You are using enough light but your Glosso is growing upward in left side. Why?
In my experience, Monte Carlo is low maintenance plant. You can go for it.
