New Year New Start...Frontosa Tank
Hi all
Wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year
I have a 7 foot aquarium which was a south american for around 7 years but then started to loose fish due to age.Instead of continuing with the theme decided to give it a complete makeover.I was very keen not to use wood in it as the tank always had tons of it.
While giving it a long and hard though i decided to keep Frontosas/Gibberosas..one fish that i have always wanted to keep but never had the chance to.So here goes.let me know what you all think of it.
Thanks
Hamza

It is too attractive.

Any dead fish can flow down the river but it takes a live one to swim back up stream.

Beautiful tank and light effect. Request you to pls mention the diet for these fish as it is not a common fish. It would be informative.

Thank you for the kind words and sorry for the delay in reply
As far as the diet of Frontosa go...they are very different from other fish found in the great lakes of africa.Unlike other african cichlids who need more veg and less protein in their diet,Frontosa thrive extremely well on prawns and shrimp, and other white fish meat. Also it should be supplemented by a good quality pellet like NLS.A special mention here is that Frontosa should NEVER EVER be fed with floating food as they are susceptible to a problem called Float where air enters the swim bladder of the fish when the fish attempts to eat floating food.Being a fish found it great depths of the lake they never come to the surface to feed and the same should be done in the tank.
These frontosa are mpimbwe. The tank has 3 2217s (it has 4 earlier but took one off as these fish dont appreciate too much flow) and one internal eheim 2217.Also has a eheim surface skimmer to keep the water surface clean
