Apistogramma trifasciata

Unread post by bmukh »

This post is bit overdue...but here it is. Sorry, couldn't follow the initial stages so can't present this as a journal, but nonetheless here it is.
Last Saturday, saw the pleasant site: A tiny puny yellow Apistogramma Trifasciata female chasing anyone and everyone in her vicinity! Just had to shine a torch and found the little wrigglers! The female was so small that I never thought her time had cone so had made no prparations. But my guess is she did not spawn inside the pots provided (either of the two reasons-she did not like it, or other Apistogrammas -mostly Vijietas were too frequently visiting those pots) but under/on the almond leaves. So did manage to siphon off some of the fries and the mom to a separate tank. The fries are still very small, grazing on some infusoria (Mosses and almond leaves etc). My attempts to hatch brine shrimps so far has failed miserably. Will try microworms in a day or two. No pics as yet cause they are impossible to spot without a macro lens. Currently, my guess is there are are 15 odd fries...just about free swimming

bappada, now you should turn full time breeder.

You have enough stock on your hand to give it full time job.

Update on Apistograma trifasciata:
The fries are painfully slow growing. But luckily, don’t think have got much casualties. The fries are about 10 days old and yet smaller than the angel fries who became ffree swimming just today! Currently feeding the fries; microworms, freshly hatched brine shrimp 2/3 times a day.
