How much soft do you want it to be? What is the pH now?
You can use Sera super peat in the canister. I try that, and often it works. However, it all depends upon how soft you want. RO followed by Peat is the best combination.

dada all three tanks will be used for commercial purpose. ro water and canister are not possible.

Putting Stuff in the canister is important, however if you can't do that, do you think you can stuff the peat moss in a cloth bag and hide it inside the tank under some driftwoods and rocks?
