Thanks. Only a fellow hobbyist can understand the chores of keeping a reeftank in India. Jack, post some recent shots of your tank.

I have been receiving lots of PMs and emails regarding my maintenance schedule and others regarding potential problems in others tanks. While I would love to help you, but doing that in private messaging negates the whole point of opening a forum. I fully encourage you guys to post all your queries in a thread, so that the moderators and users can help. :cnf

Thanks Gaurav.
I started out with 2 Radion gen 1 fixtures about 1.5 years ago. While the Radions provided enough PAR but the beam was pretty narrow and so I changed the lenses to TIR. I would say that the difference was noticeable with better spread and PAR. Here is a pic of the tank when it was first setup.

Recently I have added another MH in the middle to help out a bit (You can spot in the lastest FTS) . I may remove it in the future but it looks a lot nicer with the MH. The fixture looks ugly though :) I provide 13 hours of photoperiod, starting from 10 AM in the morning to 11 PM at night. Let me break it down for you.

10AM-1.15PM (Actinics)
1.15PM- 9.00PM (Whites) slowly varying from 10k (75%) to 20k (100%)
2.15PM- 8.00PM (MH on)
9.00PM- 11.00PM (Actinics)

Thanks Kiranjit. My schedule is fairly simple. As you know each tank is different, I mainly depend on a lot of bacteria and carbon dosing to control nutrients in my tank. I have used Prodibio (BioDigest +Bioptim) from the start of the tank before shifting to MB7 + Vinegar. Since the shift my nitrates have crept up a bit, still below 2ppm though. I have been using MB7 for the last 2 months and i'm in no point to judge, but the results are not bad either. Here is the routine that I follow.

Daily:
15 drops MB7
10 ml Vinegar (5%)
110ml Alk
110ml Calcium
Feed fish with 1cube of Hikari frozen mysis, 2 pinches of Formula1 & Spirulina flake, half a sheet of Nori
Clean Glass

Weekly:
Clean Skimmer cup
Hikari frozen Rotifers (twice a week)
5-6 drops of Zeo AAHC (twice a week, 1 hour before adding rotifers)
Tropic Marin Zooton (twice a week)
15gm of MgCl2.6H2O mixed in RODI water

Monthly:
20-30 liters of w/c with Reef Crystals (twice a month)
change GAC
siphon sand and sump
5gm of KCl mixed in RODI water
2-3 drops Baby Multivitamins

Regards,
