how to maintain the water level in skimmer ??


today did the piping for skimmer and got it running, but as soon as i put it on water was filled up and then it started overflowing.... how to prevent this ??
please help !!!!

depends a bit on the kind of skimmer you have...

i had a "skimmer beast" before: overflowing had two reasons:

1. either the skimmer was to low (water level in skimmer too high)...you have to hang it higher
2. or the pump runs at a too high performance...i had to choke it at the outflow

adjusting a skimmer for perfect performance is a very very patient job...good luck

PATIENCE is the word now i hate after getting in to marines just kidding

did it bro, fiddled with it for around 20 mins but didnt got anything specific but tomorrow will try rising the skimmer, might help.

Raise the skimmer, choke in inflow, reduce the air, open the outflow. You will have to fiddle with these to get the balance right. Are you running it in fresh water or salt water? Whats the make and model?

Running it in freshwater, weipro 2018 .... Fiddled aroud but ll do more this afternoon..

You will have to run it in saltwater for proper working. Skimmer doesnt work in FW

Yes bro. But I am wondering why haven't you added salt yet to the tank?

Cycling process will be start after adding saltwater in the aquarium.

Because i am patient LOL

I am waiting for the overflowbox to come then ll add saltwater. Also need to complete the skeleton of canope, i want to make something like very easy and cheap and that stops the dust entering in because i dont want to make it expensive as we will be shifting the house in few months and there the tank goes in basement.

Any ideas on how to stop dust going inn ???
