My Mayan Cichlid
Mayan Cichlid around 8" has his own tank of 2'(L) x 1'(W) 1'6"(H) bare bottom tank. No filter I do water change every third day and siphon out dirt every day. Only has a air stone for air circulation. I got two more tanks but any one who comes to our house after greeting us heads straight to his tank. He likes to chase you if you happen to pass his tank and doesn't like any one touching his tank will charge at your finger. Was in a community tank but because of his aggressive behavior I have given him his own tank. He is with me from last 2 yrs. bought from fellow hobbyist. Loves to eat shrimps.

Hi Sunil
Welcome to aquapetz
Did you try making a simple DIY filter? There are a lot of interesting videos on youtube on homemade DIY filters
You could use an old cooler pump or just an aeration pump to make a good one that will maintain the water quality in your tank and make it more stable.

Great fish! I too think it needs a filter IF its in a bare bottom tank.
