Hello,
I have a 50 gallon high light high-tech system and I have the following dry fertilizers:
KNO3, KH2PO4, MgSO4, CSM+B, and EDTA (iron chelate).
I think My ADA Aquasoil has been depleted of much of its nutrients and because i have a good amount of fertilizers I was wondering if anyone knew how to make root tabs or(capsules) using these ferts and clay. Thanks!
I was also looking for some clay to put in capsules and add in tank

Re: Help needed for DIY root tab
I read somewhere the procedure to making DIY root tabs as follows:
1. Mix all the fertilizers with soil.
2. Make small tablets and dry.
3. Now bake these tablets in oven till then their color has been change.
Now they are ready to put in the soil.

Re: Help needed for DIY root tab
Well point is these are highly soluble salts, so even if they are little moist they ll dissolve in few seconds.
So only way is to bond them to some compound that will dissolve slowly. EDTA is one such thing, but it dissolves in a day, to make it stay for months together you need whole different science and out of my scope.
So, try using proven methods. Plain clay backed balls as Rajiv ji suggests, is just as fine. Its mostly the organic compounds that are used, and dissolve slowly.
All the best. Try do bit of searching around as well and let us know any more stable recipes.
