DIY: "invisible" filter inlet/outlet - update page 4
hi guys
sometimes the impression of nice tanks is disturbed by the inlet and outlet hoses and pipes.
ada has introduced really nice glassware, which is almost invisible, but also extremely expensive.
a cheaper alternative are clear acrylic pipes...available at chawri bazaar, shop 202 (30m from metro station):
2m, diameter 22mm,for Rs160
fill it with sand and close the ends
heat the area which you would like to bend SLOWLY with a heat gun, and bend the hot, soft tube around an object with the desired diameter
a hair blow dryer is not powerful enough, the acrylic pipe won't get soft enough to bend
a gas flame is a bit too hot and hard to control...the result is ugly
cut the pipes at the desired length and grind the ends.
cut trenches at the bottom of the filter inlet pipe and close the open end of the pipe.
be careful, the end is a bit delicate now...i broke it twice... done
