Hi Friends,

I recently bought some bettas. So, thought of sharing their pics - I really miss not having a SLR :(

Specs:

Tank - 9 inch cube with a 25 watt heater (each) set at 25 C. They have styrofoam on four sides to protect from rapid heat loss.
Substrate - white sand (50% fresh + 50% from a goldfish tank)
Food - tetra bits and dried blood worm

I wanted to give a bit of hard-scape to each of the tanks - let me know how I faired :feedb

The dumbo/elephant ear/big ear HMPK (there is some debate in the betta community that dumbo is not the same as big ear)

A juvenile dragon HMPK ( this scape is not yet complete but I love this betta- he flares a lot)

Apart from these, I also have copper HM & HMPK (one each) females. Will post their pics later.

Nice setups and very nice bettas. Need more clearer shots of the Dumbo ears.

Kesheva, you have got very beautiful fishes.

Add some almond leaves in both the setups.

From where have you get white rocks with brown patterns? I have 2-3 rocks of this type and want to buy 5-6 bigger rocks of this type for my new planted tank.

Will the substrate make the water hard? Bettas will prefer softer water.

Thanks all :)

@ Abhishek - I will try to post a better pic

@ Rajeev (Scorpio - sorry if I am relating the wrong name) - I picked the rocks from a LFS 1-2 years ago. He only had it in small packets.
On the leaves - - are almond and banana the only choice? I am wondering if I can add other kind of leaves as well. basically something more smaller in size.

@ Bappa - Firstly, I need to thank you for the crypts you shared with Vrijendra that he was kind enough to share with me. I have absolutely no idea how the substrate will react. But that is a good point. I have moved the bettas to this tank yesterday only. I am planning to do water changes every 7 days (actually more frequently for the first month i.e. every third day so that chemicals/toxins don't build up). I will keep a close eye on the hardness.
