Quarterly Aquatic Photography Competition.

Unread post by SCORPIO »

Guys, I am planning to start a Photo Competition on our forum. What do you think about this proposal?
Jibran Shariff will be playing the role of Organizer/Judge of the competition otherwise he will be always grabbing first position. He is free to decide all the matter regarding the Photo Competition.

The Schedule of Competition can be as: January, April, July, October OR March, June, September, December.

Suggestions are Welcome.

Quarterly Aquatic Photography Competition seems fun i like it idea..

Jibran Shariff as Organizer/Judge of the competition along with voting system (not open voiting) with other members then Jib decided who is winner.

Nice idea Rajeev & the move to give the judges role to Jibran is perfect.

I would suggest we do it end of every quarter and the results to be declared the following month.

With regards to the rules i would like to suggest the following

1: Entries have to be fresh. Photos displayed in the past on the forum, linked to an album or to any website and/or account shouldn't be accepted.
2: Entrants names shouldn't be displayed. (Friends will vote for friends)
3: Poll count to be made public. (More transparency to prevent people from assuming the judges are being biased.)
4: Judges discretion is final and binding. (In case of a tie)
5: Closed thread for poll. (prevents flaming)
6: Entrants found to be asking for votes, to the public audience or friends, should be disqualified.
Just cos it happened to you is no means for you to claim that it will happen to me. Exceptions aren't the rule.

a photograph is not about the subject, mostly about the photographer's portrayal of the subject
and also the photographers selection of the subject and then comes composition, then there are things such as the lighting the action in the shot, the difficulty of setting up for that shot

lot of factors in all to give points to a pic
so differentiating pics based on the subject is a no no, that way we give the photographers a choice to portray their subject as best as possible by them
