Solar energy in aquariums.
I am curious to know that it is possible to use solar lighting in the tanks. Govt. is also providing subsidy on solar lighting equipments. Why do not all of we plan to use solar lighting in our tanks.
At present my tanks consuming lighting as follows:
1. T5: 21 watt X 4 = 84 watt
2. PLL: 36 watt X 5 = 180 watt
3. PLL: 11 watt X 1 = 11 watt
4. LED: 5 watt X 1 = 5 watt
Filters:
Canisters = 2
HOB = 3
Powerhead = 2
Other equipments:
Heaters: 100 watt X 3 = 300 watt
50 watt X 1 = 50 watt
I also want to know following:
a. How many solar panels I need
b. How many batteries to provide backup at night.
c. Can I run all of the above mentioned equipments in day time directly through solar panels or I need any converter to convert DC to AC?
d. Approx. cost.
I requests to all of you please participate in this topic. We can save our pockets and environment both by using solar energy.

Rajeev Ji, Last night, I was traveling by bus from Churu to Delhi. I could not sleep and this idea knocked my brain. I can save thousands of Rs. per month if there is some solution. Technical and DIY experts can solve this problem. This will be a single time investment.

Filters:
Canisters = 2= 40W?
HOB = 3= 35W?
Powerhead = 2 30W?
Other equipments:
Heaters: 100 watt X 3 = 300 watt
50 watt X 1 = 50 watt
280W---- for 8 hours
105W for 24hours
350W for 3 hours a day(assuming it runs on regulating thermostat)
Per day you are consuming=> (280 X8) + (105X24) + (350 X3)= 2240 + 2520 + 1050= 5810Wh
means appx 6 units(on average you are spending 6 X Rs 7= Rs 36 per day, monthly Rs.1116)
Now lets look at your Solar SYSTEM buDGet.
How much subsidy does Govt give??
- how many watts is on solar panel? you should aim at atleast twice to thrice the wattage of usage.I also want to know following:
a. How many solar panels I need
- How much mAh is your battery? you should aim a t twice Ah of your daily uses.b. How many batteries to provide backup at night.
- You ll need the convertor, unless you use LEDsc. Can I run all of the above mentioned equipments in day time directly through solar panels or I need any converter to convert DC to AC?
d. Approx. cost.-
VERY VERY important question!!! The latest quote I have for solar-panel is like this
12V, 20W = Rs 2000
12V, 40W = Rs 4000
+ 4% VAT
How many watts are you spending at any moment in a day? 6 units X 1000W/24= 250W, so you might at least purchase thrice the usage= 750W
Now number of panels needed comes to 750W/40W= 18.75 panels, for simplisity and extras lets put at 20panels
Total cost of panels alone = 20 XRs 4000= Just Rs 80,000 +4% vat=3200=R 83,200
In case you are buying so much you may get some 10-20%(very optimistic) discounts from Govt, you ll end up atleast with
appx =Rs Rs 70,000
That was only for panels you ll again need battery+inverter etc so put 30K more for good life equipments

Re: Solar energy in aquariums.
below quotation as it reads...keep getting somany of these being in Industrial hub
Price 30K, can run a TV, Fan, 10W CFL for 3-4hrs per days charge
Includes 12V 120Ah battery, 125W solar panel,500VA inverter
(details as it reads, I cant read vernacular, translated by mom and written above by me, so expect some typos) Once again, very big problem to upload a good res photo... some one fix it please!!!

In remote areas Govt. provides upto 70% subsidy. I can try to import from some panels from those places.saikumar wrote:How much subsidy does Govt give??
Delhi Govt. also provides subsidy on renewable energy devices. I have to check this.

There is quite a GIMMICK in these things, right from compromising on quality to hiked prices.SCORPIO wrote:saikumar wrote:In remote areas Govt. provides upto 70% subsidy. I.
..haha for that matter farmers subsidised sowing seeds.
Still, if you can elaborate the procedures eACH point... like what I did , it ll be helpful.
