Parrot Fish Laid Eggs
Hi all,
One of my friend's parrot fish laid eggs and now he is wondering, how long it take for them to hatch...?
Parrot lay eggs on a toy, my friend put this toy in a different tank.....with heater.
He asked; first the egg were transparent, after few days they change own color as white and now (yesterday) light brown.
Please suggest what he should do......next step.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: Parrot Fish Laid Eggs
white eggs are of no use, brown eggs are usually fertile but in your friends case i think the brown color is due to fungus
A collection of mistakes is called experience and experience is the key to success.

. generally the parrots are infertile(like most of the hybrids).if you want to breed them try swapping the male with convict or red devil .ishaan wrote:white eggs are of no use, brown eggs are usually fertile but in your friends case i think the brown color is due to fungus

Re: Parrot Fish Laid Eggs
Ok....Do they look like mosquito larva?
That's how fry look at first
If they have hatched, you need food for the fry
How many of them are there? Only one or two or many of them?
Do you have Microworms, Green water or any other live food?
Probably not.....
try to get them from a nearby hobbyist and read further
Put some old tank water in bucket. Add some fish food ( a little) and place the bucket in a sun lit area
After a few days, the water will turn green. It contains algae and other small infusorians that are food for the fry
By the time your green water develops, you need to feed the fry with some other food
Take an egg and boil it a little longer than you usually do
Take out the yellow part (yolk) and mash it with some water to form a saucy texture
Let it cool and put a few drops in your fry tank every 4 hours
If the water remains cloudy for more than an hour, reduce the amount of feeding
Fry are very sensitive to ammonia. you must do 10% water changes every day. Make sure that the water is at room temp. before using
But egg yolk is not a staple for the fry. You will need fry food or live foods to have good survival rate
Good Luck

Anytime mate...
If you are coming to the meet, that'll be your best bet to save the fry
You'll meet all sorts of experts and you can learn as many things as you want
you can take microworms from Juanico, Romi, VishaalDalal, or Djmankotia
See if one of them are also coming and contact them
