the Aquascaping contest is on its way and attracts a lot attention.
why don't we start similar activities/contests to encourage more participation...
for example:

1. contest "breeder of the year":
- best breeding effort of fish, shrimps, etc....the whole cycle of mating, spawning, fry care till adulthood
- restricted to breeding efforts in India only
- In order to encourage "new" breeders, guys like Vijendra, Bappa and me should be excluded.

2. contest "best thread in Aquapetz of the year"
- which thread provides best information to users?
- which thread has most posts?

3. contest "best innovation"
- some guys are experimenting with a lot of cool things...coconut water, worms from vermicompost, DIY-canister filter, etc.
- which one is the coolest or most useful for our hobby?

4. contest "best photo in Aquapetz of the year"

etc...

just some thoughts

we need the initiation.

So nice suggestions, I would love to contribute whatever I can.

Can you plan something?

A total schedule for this year? We had lots of plan, but not yet executed..let hope this one works.

Aquascaping contest will be there, same way we need some guys those can give time to plan the other contest as you suggested.

we already had some plans like these in the previous year but due to some reasons they were not materialized.

juanico, I was out of city from Saturday so could not contribute in this topic. This is really a cool idea. I am also agree with you. But one query from all the members, "We have to evaluate the Current Topics or New Topics". We have also to made a team to evaluate the topics. Also plan about rewards for the winners.

One more question on which we can present ourself "How evaluate the Topics either by Members Voting or a by a Team of Members"

Great idea Wojtek...we may also think of "best journal of the year". Lets keep the judging simple. The admins and mods do the initial screening and thereafter voting by all members (except the admins and the mods) to decide the final winner.

That's a really cool idea Wojtek
It will inspire many people to do indulge in more research.
And further increase the scope new things getting discovered
There are a lot of things yet to be explored......

Guys, come ahead and contribute your ideas in this topic. We can start the contest from the first week of April.

Woytek's idea that the best thread be rewarded is an easy idea to implement, and should be. Bappa's that the best tank journal be identified and acknowledged is just as good. You alwyas call for discussion and consensus on each idea, but time spent on discussing what everyone already agrees on ........... is not useful.

Why not just make a group, take suggestions from members, and decide on the winners and go ahead and applaud them ? That's it. You do it every quarter (three months). See the difference!

We don't need a prize for every title. We have a lot of good members, if we gave them something for each positive action, that person would be buried under packages Acknowledgement, respect, appreciation, heartfelt commendation, these matter more to people than actual gifts. These are 'gifts' too.
