10 Watt LED

Unread post by syed.ali »

Its time to upgrade LED DIY. I started with 1 watt then moved to 3 watts and now its time for 10 Watt 666

I had made up my mind about 6-7 months back to make this, but got busy in other stuff so couldnt work on it.

Its a single 10 watt led, Brand i dont know. Its Taiwan make. Price abt 350/-

Driver is made in india, with 1 yr warranty. Abt 150/-

Heat Sink, its computer CPU heat sink. 50/-

It has replaced originally 18 watts (3 watt circuit) that i had on the same tank initially.

The placing of LED is temporary, Hood is in making :) TIll will go above by another 2-3 inch so that the light spread is more

the result looks good.
your driver generates 12Vx1.5A=18W
do you use a resistor to reduce the power to the LED?

Hmmm....

Very good Syed, buddy. Any idea of its kelvin rating? The floodlights are available in Pure White which is 5000 kelvin. Yours looks dazzling  .

I get what Juanico is saying. He is over running the LED, instead of 10, he is running at 18W. Possible reason for extra brightness.

Syed ji, is there chance to check the voltage and current across the LED?
