light bulb/tube replacement

Unread post by aquascapist »

Hi,
I'm curious as to how often everyone changes light bulb/tubes in their planted tanks. Do you change it yearly or run it till it dies?
Warm Regards,
Aditya

Flouroscent tubes should changes after every 6-7 months. Personally I changes after 7-8 months.

3 to 4 months on flouroscents or when I notice the light gettin' dimmer

Am yet to see a decrease in my LED set up though.
Just cos it happened to you is no means for you to claim that it will happen to me. Exceptions aren't the rule.

wow 3 to 4 months seems like a lot less for tube life. I thought u could probably run them well for 10 to 12 months. What about t5's. Aren't these supposed to be more efficient.

After 5-6 months, their output reduces. This hobby always makes hole in pocket.

That is the good thing about LEDs... no perceivable dimming! Been using LED floodlights and very happy with not having to change in over a year.

Using Chinense LEDs is not feasible.

They produce low lumens in comparison of branded LEDs. Even T5s are producing equal lumes to Chinese LEDs.
