The drooping of the fins in bettas sold by many Indian dealers, including that person in Kolkata whose name starts with a 'B', is because of rampant rosetail genes. This feature with limits is a pleasant variation but does come with its pros and cons.

Around half the bettas I have seen in threads from guys in Bangalore and such places have this gene. I am surprised they do not realize it.

Yes its a rose tail.
Breeders introduce them in their breeding program for achiving more and more branchy offsprings.

Isn't it interesting that a fish can be popular among breeders and buyers alike, yet have so few people be actually aware of what it is. Even shops we go to at random, the seller has no idea what he is selling, making up names that do not apply.
