Never kept Channas but they are in my list too.

I thought four footer will be enough to house four fishes. They stays small upto years.

You can choose Riccia, Hygrophila polysperma for this tank. Wait the response of Kaushik Da.

You can also add woods in the tank.

unfortunately almost all the channas are very territorial and aggressive even to the extent of killing off the smaller fish (unless the pair bond is formed)

so 4 of them in one tank would be asking for trouble, yes Channa Andrao (Lalchen) can be kept together in fact 4-5 of them in a tank initially

I would suggest go with a large group of channa bleheri
They are peaceful with each other unlike the gachua

Here is some inputs from my side... I think a 4 or 5 ftr tank is enough to house 2 male and 3 female . You have to keep some earthen pot or tub at the bottom in order keep them in nest and to avoid brutal chasing. You can use 2/3 driftwood to de-marking the areas of alpha male. Another thing is must.. the light sources should be fully covered... if they are frightened they used to jump up and damaged it. They are very inquisitive fish ... and within a month they may recognized you and start roaming/ rounding activity. Hygrophila polysperma and Hydrila , Azola , Water letuce are generally found in channa habitat

watching channas is amazing. they also need good quality food. they are messy eaters so need good filtration.
