would like to give my few cents on Macro photos based on my personal experience:

1)there is lots of noice which can be lowered by increasing shutterspeed, decreasing the f value and using an off-camera flash(this will improve the quality a lot).

2) the subject should be perpendicular to the lens and should not make any angle to it ofr maximum focus( since the Depth of field (DOF) is very small in macro photography).

3)try to keep camera at the same level to the subject(for side profile) or perpendicularly above it(for top profile).
