Re: My Nature Inspired Discus tank
Thank you all.
parthapratim22
I selected all fish on their character, I wasn't sure about the H.Pulchripinnis but it seems to go well. All layers of the tank are occupied now.
vijendra_s123
My feeding regime now is 3 to 5 times a day, when I first got the discus it was 8 to 10 times a day.
The fish are almost a year now so I will probably go back to 2 or 3 times per day.
I feed my fish all sorts of frozen food;
Mysis
Artemia
Discusmix
Black mosquito larve
Krill.

Thank you for the compliment, I wanted a group of Red spotted green Tefe or Royal green Tefe but I had the opertunity to buy this group cheap.
I know the breeder and I know these are very healthy and good quality fish (and my ms wanted more colours haha)
For now I will stick with this group, Wildcaught Discus are expensive to buy and need even more care, I would rather get some F1 fish.
In the past I have kept wildcaught Alenquers and I used to own a group of F1 Royal Blue.
I do agree that wildcaught or F1 fish are even better looking but with young children in the house I am just lucky that I can stil afford this hobby.
I did stick to my initial plan of only one kind of Discus in the tank, I personally do not like to see a group with all different colours, again, this is my personal opinion.

The type of wood used was scaffold wood planks. Works really easy, first I worked out the exact dimensions of the tank, then started to build and just went with the flow, whereever it needed adjustments I had room to make them.
The cabinet took me 4 days to build.

I hope to make some decent photo's soon.
When I have a little more time I will take out my dslr camera

Re: My Nature Inspired Discus tank
ya,you do the great job by keeping only 1 group of discus in this tank.
for wild caught discus,i think keeping heckel is tough compare to other discus.even I am planning to keep few Curuai discus in my tank.what were the ph and conductivity you maintained while keeping wild discus?
btw,here's my tank:

What about Lighting? As I understand discuss needs low light.

Re: My Nature Inspired Discus tank
Thank you all for your kind words
I changed the right side of the tank a bit, took a big piece of bogwood out and changed it with another piece that fits better in that place.
The right side is now a bit more open, I will try and make some decent photo's soon, I do have some that I made with my phone.
I do use some clay around the Echinodorus but that's about it. All the plants in the tank are pretty easy to keep.

That's easy, I use no fertilizers or Co2 in my tank.Kaushik wrote:Superb looks... Can you share the information's regarding the Co2 injections and fertilizer dozes ?
