Max tolerated temp???

Unread post by kvdelhi »

Temperature is running high, now in 3 feet aquarium is 32 deg C. Fan cools it to 30 or so. Increased food and added water stone but i was wondering what is the maximum temperature tolerated by freshwater fishes like molly or tetra? :cnf

Install a fan over the tank to reduce temperature.

If its not a planted tank, then you can turn off the lights.
or use smaller ones which don't produce much heat, comparatively

Open the hood. Most of the fish can survive upto 30-31 degree

Also, came across this info:
"Goldfish, for example, can live in water from 1-40C/34-104F providing they are properly acclimatised. Other species, are "stenothermal" and have a narrower temperature band." on the page: http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/c ... p?sid=2849

for fan see some of these post for DIY fan solution
http://aquapetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=2403 and http://aquapetz.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=2261

you can get these fans from any computer repair shops and run them with 12 volt adaptor or even mobile adaptors, with mobile they will run on half the capapcity but if tank is small it will work.

Most of the fishes survive 30-32, if you have decent size tank as the bigger tank, more chances of bottom of it being lil cooler.
