Update:
Couldn't locate acrylic locally so I added a glass slab to support the fans and can now move the led fixture towards the center of the tank. I still can't control the angle of the fans but I guess I am happy with what I have now. It's almost invisible and unobtrusive.

i won't try this, if those are AC Fans.

Those are DC fans, being run at 5V/0.4A. Not a big deal, even if they fall in. And trust me, the arrangement is more rigid than it seems. Unless I bang it for some unknown reason, it's not gonna get messy.
