Re: CREE LED 3' DIY setup
So the setup is nearing completion. Picked up some spacers to attach a splash guard.
Here are the LEDs with the optics attached.
You can see the 5mm acrylic sheet just below the LEDs - this acts as a plash guard.
Two images of the setup and the hanging kit...
The AC socket has still not arrived. So wired the setup to do some testing while it comes in. Major testing parameters are :
- Heat
- Loose connections
- Wire alignments
- Fixture alignments
- Height of the fixture
- Tension in each wire (I have left the middle wire slack - the use of this wire is purely as an emergency attachment in case either the left or right wire loose tension or slip)
Picture of the brightness at the top. Notice how the lily has thrown loooooong stems - sign of poor lighting. Hope the fixture will solve such issues.
And a picture of the bottom
Things look good so far.

@Abhi - I picked up the driftwood from Aquastar in Chennai. Absolutely value for money.

Re: CREE LED 3' DIY setup
Yes Marsaiko...will post the FTS the moment I plant the carpet plants. The bottom is looking quite bare at the moment.
The light spill is not very significant. Two things I noticed with the LEDs :
1. The light is very `sharp' and focussed
2. The bottom of the tank has reflections of the water movement at the top. This is quite a wow !!
The extreme left and right of the tank is not as bright as the remaining part. One side has tenellus. I am thinking of putting moss on the other side.

The tank is 2 feet tall. I am inclined towards glosso. Have Staurogyne Tropica..hopefully it should start growing soon.
